Andreia Chavez

So im on FB the other day, & solestruck posts an image of the most AMAZING shoe that i've ever seen. This is the invisible shoe, created by famous shoe designer Andreia Chavez. There's also the Naked shoe [last image], but i dont like that one as much as the invisible... im definitely a fan of shiny/glittery things lol.

So intricate, so innovative, SO AMAZING. If I had $4000 to spend just for the hell of it, i'd probably cop these.

Carnabys.

Like the majority of female bloggers out there, I have been craving to own a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas. Its a must have for anyone that loves shoes, but they're expensive... which is why i still dont have a pair! Even if i saved up enough money to buy a pair of the cosmos or spiked heels [which are the styles i actually want], i dont know if i would be able to go through w/ the purchase! hahaha i'm sure the quality is great... but paying $150-$300 on some heels that i'm not gonna wear EVERY SINGLE DAY is a negative for me.

So i've decided to go the alternative route, by buying a similar shoe... i would call it a knock off, but since they're Steve Maddens i won't refer to my shoes as that... since they're from an actual designer unlike charlotte rousse or F21 lol.

They're Steve Madden Carnabys. Ive seen a wide range of prices on them... from $80-$180. I got mine for $46! super deal.

i've seen a few other versions of the lita, but w/ the exception of the buckle, i like these the best.

OH, is fall here?

I know fall officially starts in a few weeks, but its been 85-90 degrees in Reno, so that made me forget that it is quickly approaching lol. HOWEVER, yesterday was gloomy & last night it rained... so my state of mind will most likely change when that happens lol.

Summer > fall, winter, & spring. But fall = cool boots & pretty leaves :)

Last night was the 53rd Grammy Awards, & unfortunately I didn't watch because I got home late from Seattle & had to study for a test until 2am :(

My favorite part happens to be the red carpet, so of course I had to check out Yahoo to see what everyone wore...

UMM, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?

As I recall, the Grammys was about glitz & glamor... it was one big HOT ASS MESS!

What I dont understand is why some were looking better at the PRE GRAMMY GALA than at the actual awards show!

* * * * *

Well, here are some of my favorites, as well as [in my opinion] some complete fails.

Sara Bareilles: I loved this dress on her. Very elegant, & the red looks really good on her.

Jennifer Hudson: One of the best dressed! She looks absolutely stunning.

Jennifer Lopez: JLO, I need this dress girl! Not many people can pull off a cute short dress at the grammys, but she KILLED. Another one of my favorites.

Natasha Bedingfield: Lovey. I don't like the bottom as much as the top, but it's still a very pretty dress, & the color works great for her.

Bruno Mars: Looks adorable :)

Keri Hilson: HOT! Still on the fence about her hair here... & it would've been more elegant if the dress was long, but still hot :)

Janelle Monae: Nice & Sophisticated. It still bothers me that she's had this same look for like 3 years now, but at least she's being true to herself... & didn't show up trying to over-do it like the majority of the celebrities.

Naya Rivera: Long in the back, short in the front seemed to be popular that night... I think she pulled it off the best

now onto the ugly.

Haley Williams of Paramore: I like shopping at Hot Topic too... but that's not a good place to get a dress for the grammys.

Nicki Minaj: I love different, but this is a disaster. The hair-do wasn't ok on SNL, & it didn't look good here either. No comment on the outfit.

Usher: umm... no-go.

Willow Smith: I think she's adorable, but why did Will & Jada let her play dress up at HOME, & then gave her permission to wear that at the grammys??? :(

V Magazine Online Editorial // MEGABYTES OF SPRING

Today I was browsing V & came across this ingenious work of art in the V69 issue! Not only am I in love with the spring collections, the animation has inspired me to get back in tune with graphic design. It's been a while :/

Some of the designers featured include Tsumori Chisato, Manish Arora, Burberry, & David Koma.

These are just a few of my favorite images...but there's more on the website :)

Lack of Innovation.

It appears that many young & ambitious people are interested in fashion design these days. COOL :) But I feel that too many of them are playing it safe and being TOO CLICHE!

How do you expect to make it with unoriginal work?!
I don't wanna see the same shit!

OK, SO THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INSPIRATION & ORIGINALITY.
I'm not implying that you shouldn't look to other artists/designers as a source of inspiration, but definetly step outside of the box to make that idea even greater and more interesting than ever.

For instance - how many people are going to make a debut with lace/studded sunglasses? I like the concept, but sorry its already been done.

Stevie Boi is a good example of this. Not sure how many of you are familiar w/ his work, but he's definetly blossomed since his myspace days. He's taken sunglasses to the next level with the materials he uses & the complexity & variation he adds to each one. ♥

IDK
. Maybe it's just me... but I really think people need to step their game up if they want to make a big impression.

Another thing with the glasses is that everyone seems to be customizing them!
Why not use another medium? You can always do things with clothing, and accessories are always a plus to have in one's wardrobe :)

I came across this blog the other day, Taste the Candy, which is ran by a guy named Jevon Smith. Smith is the designer of Valor Candy, where he currently has a line of watches. Definetly has somethin goin, check him out on his blog or buy a watch HERE :)

Welllll, that's pretty much how I feel about youth's current thirst for fashion & design. Goodnight!
